Plastic-Free Toothbrush Is Better

You wake up and do it. Before you go to sleep, too, (I hope). It’s important to make sure it’s plastic-free. Yes, I’m talking about your toothbrush. What were you thinking? 😉 I choose Brush with Bamboo as my plastic-free toothbrush.  Read on to find out why and use sustainablyaimee for a discount to try it yourself!

Why does it matter if I use a plastic-free toothbrush?

I’m glad you asked. I have always been a ‘brush my teeth two-times-a-day,’ gal. I like my teeth pearly white but I was using way too many plastic toothbrushes in the process. Each dental visit I was given a new one. And sadly when we throw them in the trash, they don’t go away. If you’ve been following me a while you know “go away” doesn’t exist. These plastic toothbrushes pile up in a landfill that emit terrible toxins into the air and may have access to our waterways.

  • More than 1 Billion toothbrushes end up in a landfill in North America alone. Now imagine the other continents, scary right?
  • Plastic toothbrushes are made from a combination of plastics that are oil-based and have toxic chemicals. (Putting that in our mouth sounds delicious)
  • They take over 400 YEARS to DECOMPOSE.

Toothbrush Waste

Need any more convincing?

I am looking for an alternative to a plastic toothbrush that still has the strength as plastic but is also soft on my gums. That is why I choose Brush with Bamboo. It is the first and oldest bamboo toothbrush. USDA certified 100% organic and made with plant-based bristles. It comes in compostable packaging; so there is no plastic packaging waste.

How do I like using it?

It is very cleansing for my teeth, gums, and tongue. I have struggled with gum issues pretty much since high school and was apprehensive to try it.  I like that it’s firm but gentle.

What are the bristles made out of?

That is the best part – Brush with Bamboo’s bristles are made from mostly castor bean oil.  When its no longer of-use you can pop the handle in your compost and bristles in the trash. They are working towards fully compostable bristles.*

Plastic-Free Toothbrush

I used to have sustainable guilt using my plastic toothbrush knowing I wasn’t part of the solution. I have been using this toothbrush for the last few months and it is great, highly recommend!

Now, I’m excited to share with you all this easy plastic-free swap. They make great gifts for anyone. Since the holidays are coming up, even better stocking stuffers!
